Jackie McDowell is fourth-generation seamstress who has been sewing since the age of seven. She loves what she does and loves to share her creations with the world.
Iron City Upcyclery is a collection of original sewing creations for those who appreciate clothes that reflect a creative spirit, individuality, and a commitment to environmental sustainability. The clothing designs are inspired by all kinds of flora, music, seasons, post-industrial Pittsburgh, historic architecture, books, woodland creatures, vintage threads, antiques, and imagination. Each piece is handcrafted and one-of-a-kind.
Iron City Upcyclery uses only vintage or reclaimed fabrics and, oftentimes, notions to create these unique upcycled clothes. It serves the dual purpose of reducing waste through re-use, as well as giving the clothing designs a vintage kind of vibe.
See something you like, but need it in a different size? Prefer a different fabric? Do you have an idea for a custom piece? Get in touch! Iron City Upcyclery will gladly sew for folks of all shapes and sizes.
